If you need a little extra help creating the perfect bun, then we recommend the Hair Donut. From our own range of hair accessories this bun former is available in black, brown & blonde versions and now comes in five sizes! There's every size you need to create whatever bun style you want; from all-over mini buns, to classic ballet buns, through to over-sized dolly buns. So depending on your hair colour, hair length and size preference, choose the best-suited donut for you.
Approximate sizes:
Small: 7cm diameter & 2.5cm high
Standard: 8cm diameter & 3cm high - this is our original hair donut
Large: 9cm diameter & 3.5cm high
Extra Large: 11cm diameter & 4cm high
Super Large: 13cm diameter & 5.5cm high
The diameters listed above are inclusive of the central void and therefore reflect the size of the donut once placed in hair.
We've tried the Hair Donut here, and we thought you might appreciate our suggestions at getting the best out of it.
- First of all, secure your hair into a ponytail with an invisible hair elastic; wed recommend Scünci Large Polybands. (We've tried without the polybands, but believe us, it's much easier with than without!)
- Next you need to push your ponytail through the hole in the middle of the hair donut until the donut covers your polyband at the base of your ponytail.
- The next stage is a little more tricky; you need to fan out your ponytail and arrange your hair around the donut until the bun former is no longer visible in your hair. Secure sections of your hair with bobby pins as you go. If your hair is particularly thick, try using wave grips to secure your hair instead.
The hair donut is made of super-light polyester so don't worry about it weighing heavy in your hair or giving you a headache! It also provides an excellent base for your bun if you are going to use decorative hair pins or hair jewels to finish your look.
